Society Rules Rev. 01-Oct-2015
Fees
1) Fees are €40 for current members and €50 for new members (to cover the cost of polo shirt).
1.1) Fees for each outing (excluding Captian’s Day) are set to €50. This fee is to cover the prize fund, 2’s club and greenfees.
A set fee is being introduced to offset the cost of higher grade courses instead of day fees going up and down.
Outings
2) Society outings will be the last Saturday of each month within availability. A full list of outings will be emailed to each member prior to season start.
Format
3) Competition will be by the stableford points systems calculated from each individual handicap.
3.1) Matchplay competition will run in unison with main competition. It will be in knockout format and
played on every 2nd round. The draw will be made from a hat at the first round. It will also be calculated using the stableford system.
3.2) Player of the year will be determined by the player who has accumulated the most points from their best six rounds.
Prizes
4) The Lake Garda Cup will be awarded to each monthly winner (The winner will take full responsibility for its care. Any damage/loss will result in a fine and the cost of a replacement). The winner will also receive a trophy which they will keep.
4.1) Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place will be decided by the committee and are subject to change.
4.2) Closest to the hole will also receive a prize. This will be on a par 3 decided by the committee on the morning of each outing.
A players ball must come to rest fully on the green to count.
4.3) 2’s club will be on ALL par 3 holes (the cost is €2 a player and the player who gets a birdie on a par 3 wins the pot. If multiple plays get a birdie on the qualifying par 3 holes, the pot is split accordingly. If not won, the pot will roll over to the next outing).
4.4) For players who do not place (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th) or win closest to the hole, there will be a prize for the player with the best front 9 score and also the player with the best back 9 score.
Handicaps (handicaps for all players will be adjusted after roundd 4)
5) The winner of each outing will receive a 2 stroke cut to their handicap, second place 1 stroke and third place 1 stroke.
Handicaps will be re-instated at the end of season.
5.1) All players handicaps are subject to change. To move inline with GUI and CONGU rules we will be
installing a weight system. (.2 will be added to a players handicap for eveerying point scored outside of
their handicap. i.e. If a player scores 3 pts above their handicap, .6 will then be added to the handicap) this system is an accurate way of controlling handicaps.
Penalties
6) Any player that fails to show up will have to pay the €12 add on to keep prizes at a similar standard and the player will also receive a 1 stroke penalty for the next round.
6.1) The treasurer will be allowed to prevent any player from participating who has not paid their fees.
6.2) The society polo shirt must be worn on the day of each outing. Failure to comply will result in a 1 point penalty for that round.
Rules
7) All scorecards must be signed by the player and the marker before being handed to a member of the committee. If unsigned the player in question will be disqualified.
8) No player is permitted to use a buggy unless in exceptional circumstances and has agreement from the committee in advance.
9) The rules can be amended at any time by committee.
10) All players who have entered the society will be held accountable for €12 (per round) regardless of participation in each event. This is to ensure equal prize pools at each outings (low numbers would result in poor prizes for players in following event).
11) In the case of tie the result will be decided by virtue of virtual playoff (the player that scores the highest points on 18th wins, if there is no winner then it reverts back to the 17th and so on).
12) Local course along with RSA rules of adequate golf apply.
THE COMMITTEE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CHANGE THE RULES AT ANY TIME. ANY AMENDMENTS WILL BE EMAILED TO EACH MEMBER.
