Society Rules Rev. 01-Feb-2015

Society Rules:  16-01-2015

1) €50 registration fee to be paid to the treasurer (Keith Gormally) or any committee member by the 25th January 2015 latest.

2) Society outings will be February 28th, March 28th, April 25th,May 30th, June 27th, July 25th, August 29th, September 26th. An updated list will be emailed once fully confirmed.

3) The fee on the day will consist of the course fee plus €12 (€10 for the prize fund and €2 for 2’s club).

4) Competition will be by the stableford points system, worked from individual handicaps.

4.1) A matchplay competition will run alongside the main competition with 1 point being awarded for a win and a ½ point for a draw. The overall winner will be decided between the top two at the end of the season and this will be decided via a playoff at the last outing. 6 out of the first 7 rounds will count allowing each player to miss or drop a round. In the event of a points tie, the top two will be decided by count back on stableford points. In the event of an uneven number of players the idle player will be awarded a walk over and receive 1 point. This player will not be given a walk over again. The overall winner will receive a matchplay champions trophy at the last outing.

4.2) Player of the year will be determined by the player who has accumulated the most points out from their best six rounds.

5) A cup will be awarded to each monthly winner (who will take full responsibility for care of the cup, any damage or loss will result in a fine and replacement) as well as a trophy which the player will keep.

6) Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be decided by the committee and may vary.

7) Closest to hole will also receive prize. This will be on a par 3 picked out on the morning of each outing.

7.1) Balls must be fully on the green to count, if the ball is closest to the hole but not on green it is deemed out of play in regards to this contest.

8) 2’s club will be on ALL par 3 holes (€2 a man and whoever gets a birdie on that hole will win or split the pot. If it is  not won it will roll over to the next outing) .

9) The winner of each outing will receive a 2 stroke cut to their handicap, second place 1 stroke and third place 1 stroke. Handicaps will be re-instated at end of season).

9.1) Each players handicap will be subject to change. To move in-line with GUI and CONGU rules we will be installing a weight system. .2 (point 2) will be added to a players handicap for every point scored outside of their handicap. If a player scores 3 points above their handicap then .6 (point 6) will be added to their handicap. This system sounds complicated but it is an accurate way of controlling handicaps. Throughout the season, if handicaps need to be readjusted the committee will listen to any cases put forward.

10) Days groupings will be determined by matchplay pairings.

11) Any no-shows will have to pay the €12 add-on to keep prizes at similar standard and will also receive a 1 stroke penalty.

12) The treasurer will be allowed to prevent any player from participating who has not paid their fees.

13) The committees decision will be final on all aspects.

14) Once each course has been booked a full list will be put up to allow players notice in-case of conflict.

15) Players will have their cards marked by one of their playing partners, closest to hole will be measured by a third party who is not the player or their marker.

15.1) All scorecards must be signed by the player and the marker. If unsigned the player will be disqualified.

16) No player is permitted to use a buggy unless in exceptional circumstances.

17) Rules can be amended by the committee at any time.

18) All players who have entered the society will be held accountable for the €12 regardless of participation in each event. This is to ensure an equal prize pool at every outing (low numbers would result in poor prizes for players in following event).

19) The registration fee covers the first round of prizes, purchase of trophies and a society polo shirt for each member. All members must wear their polo shirt on the day of each event or face a €10 fine. If the fine is unpaid then the player may not receive any prize they have won.

20) In the event of a tie the result will be decided by virtue of virtual playoff {the player who scores the highest points on the 18th hole wins, if there is no winner then it reverts back to the 17th hole and so on}.

21) Local course rules as-well as RSA rules of adequate and golf apply.
